With the spring game one week away, the Texas Longhorns are looking at 2 possible commitments from elite transfer portal players. Who are they and what would they bring to the 40 acres? I’ll have all that and more for you below!

Agiye Hall

Agiye Hall entered the transfer portal a couple weeks ago and from day one I knew the Texas staff would pursue after him. For a more in-depth breakdown checkout my full article on him here. Hall is a player that could really take this offense to another level. The only negative on him is, will he be able to stay out of trouble.

Hall was suspended for the remainder of spring football at Alabama before entering the transfer portal. If he can keep his head on straight and continues to work on his game, I really think Hall could be Xavier Worthy’s wingman in Steve Sarkisian’s offense. I expect Hall to commit to the Texas Longhorns very soon. He is currently on campus so it might even be as early as this weekend.

Ochaun Mathis

Ochaun Mathis is a guy who was favored to pick Texas since he entered the portal. Mathis has been one of the best pass rushers for TCU over the past couple years and that is a big area of need for the Longhorns. Adding Mathis would be huge for this defensive line. The talented edge would bring an elite level of play as well as a lot of experience, with him being a multi-year starter at TCU.

Mathis tweeted out on April 11th “My announcement will be at the end of this month”. Mathis is currently on campus and will also be on campus next weekend for the spring game. I expect him to commit to the Texas Longhorns next weekend after the spring game.

In Closing

Overall if the Texas Longhorns are able to land both of these commitments it would only add to an already impressive first offseason for Steve Sarkisian and staff. However, Texas has always been able to “win the offseason”. I’m waiting to see if it will translate to the regular season. With the talent Texas has added this offseason this team should win a minimum of 8-9 games this year, but we will have to wait and see if this team is for real or a fraud once again.
