
The Texas Longhorns are looking to grab a third straight top five recruiting class in 2024. With a few flip targets on campus right before early national signing day. Texas 2024 recruiting looked to be slow in the early summer. And heated up with a flurry of commits in June and five star commits in August (Colin Simmons), September (Brandon Baker), October (Ryan Wingo), and December (Kobe Black).
Texas 2024 Recruiting Offense

Texas’ 2024 quarterback is Trey Owens from Cypress, Texas. He committed to Texas on January 11, 2023. A prototypical Steve Sarkisian quarterback standing at 6’5″ and led Cy-Fair High School to a 4th round win in the Texas State Playoffs by beating perennial state powerhouse Katy High School. Joining him in the backfield will be two four-star running backs Christian Clark, who is believed to be highly underrated as a 2024 running back. And IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gipson, one of the most explosive, twitchy prospects in the entire 2024 class.

At wide receiver the Texas 2024 recruiting class has Ryan Wingo, Freddie Dubose, Parker Livingstone, and Aeryn Hampton who is also planned to be tried at defensive back. Ryan Wingo is an electric player who can defeat angles with an elite ability to make players miss in space. Next is Parker Livingstone who has enrolled early and will participate in bowl practices with Ryan Wingo and Christian Clark. Freddie Dubose returned from injury and helped Smithson Valley to a state championship appearance. With a senior year only focused on football Jordan Washington has grown as a tight end. The Langham Creek product had played basketball for 3 seasons of high school.
Texas 2024 Recruiting on the Offensive Line
The offensive line has five-star Brandon Baker from Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California. He is a high floor tackle who competed against great competition in high school. He has 34-inch arms, technically advanced and is proficient as a run blocker. On the interior offensive line will be Daniel Cruz and Nate Kibble. As a senior Daniel Cruz went from “Mr. Everything” to focusing as a center. His projected position when he enrolls early in January. With big hands he has good grip strength and flashes pop on contact. He is a nasty run blocker that moves well to the second level.
Texas 2024 Defensive Recruiting

The top recruit in Texas’ 2024 recruiting class is Colin Simmons. He is a speed rushing dynamo who is arguably the most dominant defensive player in the 2024 cycle. Also, at the EDGE position, Zina Umeozulu. He is rawer as a prospect but emerged as an underclassman against the best competition in Texas. And on the interior is the running mate of Colin Simmons, huge defensive lineman Alex January. Standing at 6’5″ 322 pounds. He is ready to step in and provide some depth with older players leaving. Also, D’Antre Robinson is a big 315-pound defensive lineman he brings another young player with an ability to disrupt. His stout build helps him defeat double teams. And is a light-footed defender that finishes in the backfield.
In the secondary, Kobe Black is a big body cornerback with coverage instincts and ball skills. As a big corner he has great smoothness in his movements, is technically sound and can be a plus run defender. A flip from Florida, Wardell Mack is long and has playmaking ability. While making impact at the corner and safety positions. Wardell’s physical play helps him reroute receivers. Santana Wilson from Scottsdale, Arizona is coming in the summer and is also a big body corner. Also coming in for College Football Playoff practices is safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell from IMG Academy. He has been seen as a leader of one of the most elite programs in the country.
Texas 2024 Flip Targets

As signing day approaches, Texas is looking to flip a few signees from other SEC teams. Xavier Filsaime and Tyanthony Smith are believed to be the most possible flips on early signing day. Also, from Texas A&M, Texas is targeting Dominick McKinley from Acadiana in Lafayette, Louisiana. Another defensive lineman Daelyn Evans from Pine Tree in Longview, Texas. As well as Auburn offensive linemen from Mater Dei, DeAndre Carter. And reclassified wide receiver Ryan Williams who committed to Alabama.
