Texas versus Texas A&M: The Last Meeting

There are three seconds left on the clock. The Texas A&M Aggies lead the Texas Longhorns, 25-24. Out trots Justin Tucker the kicker from Austin, Texas. The kick is up and good! Texas walks off the field for the final time in College Station leading with a final score of 27-25… or so we thought.

Present Day

It’s now June of 2022 and college football is in a different state. Name, image, and likeness deals and the transfer portal are both running rampant. Conferences are re-aligning and changing their schedules to be more fluid. One thing that hasn’t changed, is the hatred between the Aggies and the Longhorns.

On Thursday, June 2nd, Texas A&M athletic director, Ross Bjork confirmed that the Lonestar Showdown would return when Texas Joins the SEC. The first game in the resuscitated rivalry will be at Kyle Field, in what will almost absolutely be a sellout. In, quite possibly, one of the most heated games of the season.

College football in the state of Texas, as well as the rest of the nation, is in a better place with this legendary 118-year-old rivalry back.

Texas currently leads the series 76-37-5. Also, full head-to-head football statistics can be found HERE.
