The Texas Longhorns are in the middle of an encouraging season. Steve Sarkisian has this group at 5-2 on the season, with the two losses coming without star quarterback Quinn Ewers. However, the 2023 recruiting class has been in somewhat of a holding pattern. The Longhorns haven’t had a 2023 commitment since July 23rd. They have had a de-commitment. Coming from four-star wide receiver Jonah Wilson on October 1st.
Now Steve Sarkisian looks to regain some momentum on the recruiting trail by scheduling an official visit with the five-star tight end, and top 25 overall recruit, Duce Robinson. Robinson will be on his official visit to Texas on November 12th, when the Longhorns play TCU. This will be his second official visit to Austin, the first coming on September 10th.
What Robinson Brings To The Forty Acres
Duce Robinson is an elite tight end prospect. Standing at 6’6” and weighing 230 pounds, Robinson has the athleticism and fluid movement of a wide receiver in a tight end’s body.
Ja’Tavion Sanders came to Texas with a very similar skill set. Sarkisian has consistently used Sanders as a weapon all over the football field.
Robinson would be able to be used in a similar fashion. Stretching the defense vertically in the middle of the field, as a weapon in the slot, or even out wide in the low red-zone.
Jeff Banks and Steve Sarkisian would be able to take this offense to another level with Duce Robinson, Johntay Cook, Ryan Niblett, and Cedric Baxter all coming in the 2023 class as top-100 recruits. Of course, with the number one overall recruit, quarterback Arch Manning leading the way.
