We are less than a week away from the start of the Texas Longhorns season, which means it’s time for the Texas Talk staff to give our predictions. We will be going game by game predicting how many games Texas will win or lose throughout the 2022 season.

vs Louisiana Monroe
Game 1 for the Texas Longhorns will be against the Warhawks of Louisiana Monroe. This should be a good warm up game before heading on to stiffer competition in week 2.
- Matthew: 51 – 20 Texas
- Chris: 51 – 21 Texas
- Ryan: 63 – 10 Texas
- Sam: 35 – 10 Texas
- Michael: 54 – 17 Texas
vs Alabama
Game 2 for the Longhorns is going to be a real test of where this program is at in year two under Steve Sarkisian. If Texas can somehow keep this game close, this could be a very good year on the Forty Acres. If Texas can miraculously win this game, the college football world would be set ablaze.
- Matthew: 44 – 34 Alabama
- Chris: 42 – 27 Alabama
- Ryan: 45 – 17 Alabama
- Sam: 42 – 21 Alabama
- Michael: 45 – 27 Alabama
vs UTSA
Game 3 isn’t a gimmie. After facing an elite week 2 opponent Texas will face a very good UTSA team who went 12-2 in 2021. This is the game where we should find out if Quinn Ewers is the real deal as QB1.
- Matthew: 48 – 24 Texas
- Chris: 48 – 28 Texas
- Ryan: 52 – 24 Texas
- Sam: 49 – 17 Texas
- Michael: 42 – 20 Texas
@ Texas Tech
Game 4 marks the beginning of Big 12 play as Texas travels to Lubbock to take on the Red Raiders. Last year Texas dropped 70 points on Tech, but will the Longhorns be able to replicate that offensive firepower this time around?
- Matthew: 40 – 28 Texas
- Chris: 56 – 24 Texas
- Ryan: 42 – 27 Texas
- Sam: 63 – 28 Texas
- Michael: 38 – 27 Texas
vs West Virginia
Game 5 should be a fairly easy conference matchup. The Mountaineers lost a lot of production and had several coaching changes this offseason. Will Texas finally be able to firmly handle West Virginia?
- Matthew: 37 – 34 Texas
- Chris: 38 – 30 Texas
- Ryan: 49 – 27 Texas
- Sam: 38 – 21 Texas
- Michael: 42 – 31 Texas

vs Oklahoma (Cotton Bowl)
Game 6 is going to be a fun one. Oklahoma has gone through a lot of change this offseason. With a brand-new coaching staff and fresh faces across the entire roster, will Oklahoma be the same program Texas has faced over the past decade?
- Matthew: 49 – 45 Texas
- Chris: 49 – 35 Texas
- Ryan: 52 – 49 Texas
- Sam: 48 – 45 Texas
- Michael: 49 – 30 Texas
vs Iowa State
Game 7 brings the Longhorns back to DKR to face the Cyclones. Iowa State lost a ton of production on the offensive side of the ball, so this could be a down year for Matt Campbell and the Cyclones.
- Matthew: 42 – 21 Texas
- Chris: 31 – 20 Texas
- Ryan: 35 – 28 Texas
- Sam: 38 – 17 Texas
- Michael: 42 – 20 Texas
@ Oklahoma State
Game 8 comes against arguably the best team in the Big 12. Texas will head to Stillwater to face the Cowboys in what will most likely be a top twenty matchup. Can Texas finally get over the hump and win a tough road game late in the season?
- Matthew: 37 – 31 Oklahoma State
- Chris: 38 – 34 Oklahoma State
- Ryan: 31 – 28 Texas
- Sam: 28 – 24 Oklahoma State
- Michael: 35 – 32 Oklahoma State
@ Kansas State
Game 9 will be against a tough, quality opponent. Texas surprisingly hasn’t struggled against the Wildcats lately, with the Longhorns winning the last 5 games. Will that streak move to 6?
- Matthew: 31 – 24 Texas
- Chris: 59 – 27 Texas
- Ryan: 45 – 31 Texas
- Sam: 42 – 17 Texas
- Michael: 41 – 24 Texas
vs TCU
Game 10 will be a bit of an unknown. TCU has a new coaching staff and loses a few key players to the transfer portal. Texas will try to capitalize on a somewhat down TCU team as they come down the final stretch of the season.
- Matthew: 38 – 27 Texas
- Chris: 27 – 14 Texas
- Ryan: 38 – 31 Texas
- Sam: 35 – 14 Texas
- Michael: 45 – 20 Texas

@ Kansas
Game 11 is a revenge game for Sark and the Longhorns. This game is in Lawrence, but don’t worry about a home field advantage. It is basically nonexistent. Expect this game to be a major blow out.
- Matthew: 45 – 28 Texas
- Chris: 62 – 14 Texas
- Ryan: 55 – 17 Texas
- Sam: 42 – 3 Texas
- Michael: 51 – 17 Texas
vs Baylor
Game 12 will most likely be a prime time, playoff implication game. Obviously, these are all predictions so the season can end very differently. However, if the season pans out like we think it will, this will be a big-time game in Austin.
- Matthew: 38 – 34 Baylor
- Chris: 24 – 20 Texas
- Ryan: 35 – 31 Baylor
- Sam: 17 – 10 Texas
- Michael: 31 – 27 Texas
Big 12 Championship Game
A good portion of the Texas fanbase believes it is Big 12 Championship Game appearance or bust for the Longhorns in 2022. This team certainly has the talent to get there, but will we see the development and mid game adjustments to get this team over the hump?
- Matthew: 38 – 34 Texas over Oklahoma State
- Chris: 28 – 21 Texas over Oklahoma State
- Ryan: 38 – 35 Texas over Oklahoma
- Sam: 28 – 21 Texas over Baylor
- Michael: 38 – 30 Texas over Oklahoma State

- Ryan: 11-2 with Big 12 Championship Game Win
- Sam: 11-2 with Big 12 Championship Game Win
- Michael: 11-2 with Big 12 Championship Game Win
